Meet the Family

Merritt Lyall & Sorrel Silversage are the current alpha pair of the Bertram Valley pack, who reside on the eastern coast of Canada. In February of 2007, they bore their first and only surviving litter of four boys and one girl - Borden, Angier, Tesla, Nolan and Dove. 2009 proved to be a time of hardship as Sorrel tried time and time again to let go of her eldest sons' departures; Merritt and Cutter, after conducting several searches for Angier, attempted to console her but to no avail. Her grief eventually drove away the recruited wolves in their pack (a rogue and two other wolves who had sought the couples’ protection). With only remaining family to make up their ranks, the couple is determined to try for another litter next winter.

Cutter Lyall is Merritt Lyall's older brother and trusted pack advisor. As a Second in the pack he helped raise his nephews and niece into the wolves they are today. His skills in being able to recognize several types of plants have proven him to be gifted in the knowledge of various edible vegetation and fruit. The only force that keeps him bound to his brother’s pack is his unrequited love for Sorrel.

Tesla Lyall is the third-born son of Merritt and Sorrel. With Borden and Angier as his role models, he was quick to learn from them - everything from what to do and not do as well as how to manage his place within the pack hierarchy. When both Borden and Angier left, the responsibilities of being the next pack leader fell upon his shoulders. Everything went according to plan, but a bout with younger brother Nolan turned the tables out of his favor.

Nolan Lyall is the fourth and last-born boy of his litter. Of his four siblings, he is closest to his sister, Dove. While growing up, he constantly trailed behind his older brothers. By the time he and his siblings turned two-years-old, it seemed to his parents he was destined to fill the place of Omega in the pack ranks. However, he proved them wrong; when his eldest brothers Borden and Angier right the Valley he challenged Tesla in a judged spar and won. Now, at four years old, he is set to rise from his Delta rank into his father's place when the time is right.

Dove Lyall is the youngest of her litter and only girl. Growing up among four brothers allowed her to toughen up and to set high standards for herself. While her parents often focused on the eldest boy, Borden, Dove was often set aside, much to her Uncle’s dismay. In time, however, Cutter appointed her an important position – the role of a scout – to help keep things in order. Out of her siblings, she had always favored Nolan and hopes to one day serve as his advisor if a wayward suitor doesn’t snatch her up first...
